ESICM – Marathon COVID
Challenge
How intensive care medicine professionals from all around the world can be helped and supported in their need to meet, exchange, share information despite a global lockdown due to the covid-19 pandemic ?
Solutions brought by CYIM
In collaboration and, thanks to the trust brought by the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine, the teams from CYIM succeeded in only 2 weeks in reinventing the principle of a medical event dedicated to covid-19 by creating an 8 hours marathon.
As in an onsite congress, the teams supervised the development of a scientific program, the management of speakers, a multi-modal broadcast, the transformation of contents in replay and the creation & hosting of a dedicated platform which aimed at storing the whole media library.

Context
Beginning of 2020, the world was strongly and abruptly impacted by an unknown virus, the SARS -CoV-2 which triggered an unprecedented pandemic affecting the entire world population. Intensive care units, already weakened by a lack of recognition, had to handle their first patients and were thrust into the media spotlight.
The virus was spreading, the number of deaths were increasing exponentially, ICM professionals started expressing their needs to meet, exchange and share information. The European Society if Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) is a European leading society, which gathers nearly 9000 members around the world and whose congresses attract around 7000 delegates from all over the world.
Facing the pandemic, the society needed to connect its members together as to give them a frame and a dedicated space where they could exchange, despite the travelling restrictions.
